21 January 2008 – Philippine Ambassador to Greece Rigoberto Tiglao was featured in “Eleftheros”, a widely circulated newspaper in Greece.

The two-paged article headlined, “We Want Closer Cooperation with Greece,” reported on the achievements of Ambassador Tiglao in strengthening relations between the Philippines and Greece and in improving the image of our kababayans in Greece.

“In just a year, Ambassador Tiglao has made tremendous strides in strengthening relations between Greece and the Philippines,” the article noted. A blurb in the article noted that Tiglao “forged friendship with distinguished and respected Greek citizens both in the public as well as in the private sector, with Greek media people and with the Filipino community in Greece.”

“It is considered a great importance,” the article noted, “that in less than a year after the Ambassador’s assignment to Greece, the Greek government opened its Embassy in Manila, much to the delight of an increasing number of Greeks and Filipinos traveling between the two countries.” With this, the article noted, “there are now tremendous opportunities to strengthen further existing Greek-Filipino ties.”

The article further acknowledges Ambassador Tiglao’s efforts in acquainting himself with the host country, its people and culture by nurturing friendship with members of the Greek public and private sectors and the Greek press and by visiting other regions in Greece such as Peloponnese, Crete, parts of the Cyclades islands, Volos and Thessaloniki.
Photographs of Ambassador Tiglao with H.E. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and with his wife Getsy with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis were published in the article.
